If you're lucky, you get good items. Even if you are going 1st or 2nd, what you have in hand will affect the outcome. So if you want FTA, play 3 games whereby the last game first turn will be decided by a draw or a flip of a coin so it still depends on your luck.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5932731140778435271.post-24454404784051429152012-03-05T11:00:03.268-08:002012-03-05T11:00:03.268-08:00It's something we're looking at very close...It's something we're looking at very closely. I'd be interested in seeing the results of the next league tournament now that the Council's FTA was weakened in 1.1. We also have another change or two coming down the pipe for update 1.2. Thanks for another excellent blog post.

--
MarcinLaeushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09833324917009939970noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5932731140778435271.post-22255455783881408572012-03-05T10:26:51.438-08:002012-03-05T10:26:51.438-08:00Perhaps, but instead of just focusing on one game,...Perhaps, but instead of just focusing on one game, make the league tournament games 2 of 3 or 3 of 5 etc with a random draw. For the forfeiting of the first turn why not. Challenge for 3 games and i will and we will see how it goes :)Oberstnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5932731140778435271.post-89521525799061123102012-03-05T09:46:15.365-08:002012-03-05T09:46:15.365-08:00FTA is a competitive only thing. it does exist and...FTA is a competitive only thing. it does exist and is significant for people who take competition seriously. Those who don't (or just aren't that good) will never care, which is fine, they're just out for casual fun anyway.

If going second isn't a disadvantage, then why not completely skip your first turn every game?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5932731140778435271.post-62673856914380745182012-03-05T00:24:51.953-08:002012-03-05T00:24:51.953-08:00The importance of first turn advantage really depe...The importance of first turn advantage really depends on the game and the rules of that game. Every game will be different and some games give the advantage to the person who goes first, others to the person who goes second, and for some games it doesn't matter. In Hero Academy's case, the advantage goes to the person who goes first.

I recognize that you may feel that it's not a disadvantage to go second, but unfortunately the statistics don't support that position.

http://www.robotentertainment.com/forum/topic/Post-Patch-League-Won-Loss-Data-0

Council:
When going first: 51-28 (64.6% win rate)
When going second: 53-41 (56.38% win rate)

Dark Elves:
When going first: 56-58 (49.1% win rate)
When going second: 38-54 (41.3% win rate)

Dwarves:
When going first: 18-25 (41.9% win rate)
When going second: 19-31 (38% win rate)

Does the first player always win? Well of course not. But the first player is winning a statistically significant proportion of the time.Wyatt Chenghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11421842543596211007noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5932731140778435271.post-80255823692565335062012-03-04T23:59:35.486-08:002012-03-04T23:59:35.486-08:00The update also helps opening up the game by nergi...The update also helps opening up the game by nerging the knights and balances even more. Its all about using scrolls / rune metal at yhe right moment. I played 100+ games random/ random and maintain a win ratio of about 6/1. Since its random against good player it would be more 2.5/1 and I never feel going second is a disadvantage . My 2 cents :)Oberstnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5932731140778435271.post-53440241664864235712012-03-04T23:55:44.257-08:002012-03-04T23:55:44.257-08:00I disagree . Certainly there is a certain FTA like in chess where white statistically has more wins over black but my opinion is that the second player has the advantage of reacting to the first players move. There are situations ( like a horrible hand vs a strong hand ) where the second player can get steamrolled. But that is mostly due to the random nature of the start . And then you can be creative and wait for the first pkayer to make a mistake abd capitalize on it .Oberstnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5932731140778435271.post-32476244176211822872012-03-04T16:50:49.723-08:002012-03-04T16:50:49.723-08:00I'm glad there are other people who take the g...I'm glad there are other people who take the game seriously enough to recognize this.
